Hi, I’m Lucy, and I run Bayler & Co, a UK company specialising in handmade accessories . I hope you’ll enjoy exploring my collection of hats; hats for all occasions and all weathers.
The Bayler & Co hat collection is designed for real people. My hats are functional, comfortable and beautiful.
The beauty of my hats lies in their authenticity and simplicity. Bayler & Co don’t have a large assembly line and nor do we want one. We’re a small scale operation based in Wimbledon.
Inspiration for the Bayler & Co hat collection comes from my mother, Bridget Armstrong, actress and long time hat designer and maker also living and working in Wimbledon. Following in my mother’s footsteps, I first started selling my hats at Merton Abbey Mills in South West London, a stone’s throw from my creative space in Wimbledon. This is where William Morris printed his famous Strawberry Thief and Golden Lily designs in the late 19th century. His values of beauty, utility, and integrity resonate with our ethos. In every stitch and curve of our hats, you’ll find a tribute to Morris’s vision and a piece of Wimbledon heritage.

The William Morris Collection
The centrepiece and starting point for the Bayler & Co collection, William Morris’s “Strawberry Thief” is an iconic 1883 textile design featuring thrushes stealing strawberries amid dense foliage. A key figure in the Arts and Crafts movement, Morris founded Morris & Co. and set up Merton Abbey Mills near Wimbledon for traditional textile production.
The Bayler & Co William Morris collection echoes Morris’s design ethos, emphasizing meticulous craftsmanship and nature-inspired aesthetics, reflecting the same dedication to artistry and quality that Morris championed.
The Bucket Hat
Le Bob as it’s known in France is equally at home for a stroll along Les Champs-Élysées, a day out at the beach or a spot of gardening on a sunny day. This versatile hat combines urban chic with utility, offering sun protection and a fashionable edge.
